Kronbauer TDK (Sitka/Mahogany)

I was visiting guitar shops out of town a while back, and ran across a Sitka/Mahogany mini jumbo from Trevor that was the best guitar in the shop. It had great fulness and clarity, with the strong mids that typify Kronbauer guitars. In that moment, I thought, "Why don't I have one of these in the shop?".

Well, now I do. This guitar has a cool set of three-dimensional mahogany, and a really nice piece of Sitka for the top. It resonates and rings, with full tone across the spectrum. Playability is great, and there's a cool bit of trim—wood inlay as the side fret markers. You're going to like this guitar.

  • Mini Jumbo body shape
  • Sitka Spruce top over Mahogany back and sides

Incredible value!

I purchased this guitar based on the reviews I read. It's always risky to buy sight-unseen and I had never played a Kronbauer, but this was well worth the risk. Many of the comments I've read on guitar forums note how Kronbauer guitars are under-priced for the quality of workmanship and materials. I wholeheartedly agree! This guitar is a work of art. The attention to detail is amazing - the wood side markers, the inlay on the fingerboard, the edge binding, the inlay on the heel; all very tasteful and beautiful. But we're not reviewing artwork, so let me get to the tone. I'm not a trained musician but I know what sounds pleasing to my ears. This guitar is strong in the mids, crystal clear across the entire spectrum, with nice bass response but not boomy. Great note separation and sustain. The neck is a nice profile, similar to a Taylor neck but just a tad (technical term) thinner. This is the fourth guitar I've bought from Jon at Shoreline in the past year. He's always a pleasure to deal with and their service is the best!
