The Zoom H2n is an affordable and surprisingly powerful handheld recorder. What you can't see hiding behind that mic grill are two separate mic arrangements, both X/Y and Mid/Side, which means you can get 360-degree surround sound just by using all four mics at once. Excellent basic recorder for acoustic music!

For me, when it comes to a personal recorder, simple and basic but good is what I am after. The Zoom H2n hits that mark spot on! The recorder's controls are very intuitive, and there are basic, easy to understand processes for several important functions (such as adjusting mic volume, starting and stopping a recording, and entering/exiting the menu). Within a half hour of opening the box I had recorded a couple of basic tracks, and felt like I had a good, basic grasp of the recorder. I look forward to working more with it going forward. Oh, and the recording quality is absolutely top-notch. The only reason that I am not giving the recorder 5 stars is due to the lack of any accessories accompanying the recorder. It would be nice to at least get a USB cable with the purchase. Still, this is a great little recorder, and is certainly worth the price. Highly recommended.
