Northwood M70-MJV

  • The Northwood mahogany MJ kind of sneaks up on you. John's rosewood MJ, at least as we order it, typically features fancier design touches, while the standard aesthetic of this guitar is more restrained and woody. The rosewood is lush and reverberant, but the mahogany is a bit drier, making for an almost addictive tone: the emphasis is on the fundamentals, which means every note gets its own character and place in whatever piece you're playing. The low E (or D, depending on your tuning) is satisfyingly resonant, and the highs are springy and articulate.

On those rare days when I actually have a chance to sit down and play some guitars in the shop, if we have the mahogany MJ in stock, there's a good chance you'll find me on the couch with this fine guitar on my lap. It's a customer favorite and a real gem.

Northwood M70-MJV

This guitar is top notch in terms of overall playability, looks, feel, and craftsmanship. The mahogany and spruce combo helps create a great tonal balance across fret-board. You get the low end sound/feel you want from an acoustic, but you also can hear that high end "pop" most people love. The tonal balance is what sold this guitar to me. I have never played another guitar that sounded so good on both ends of the tonal spectrum. This guitar definitely has its own voice, but it helps add to the character of this quality acoustic guitar. Overall, I'd give this guitar a 10/10 as it exudes excellence in every category. I was in the market for new acoustic, and once I visited Shoreline and tried this guitar out for myself, I simply couldn't resist. If you are looking for a high quality acoustic I would definitely recommend checking out Northwood guitars, especially this model. Also, the staff @ Shoreline is excellent and can help answer any questions you may have. Northwood M70-MJV = a great investment for any acoustic player.
