I'm a huge fan of Taylor's new 400-series guitars. With gloss-finished ovangkol and updated bracing, they simply look and sound great, which is pretty sweet considering they can be had for under $2000.
That's what made this Special Edition 412-R such an easy choice: With the upgrade of solid Rosewood back and sides (a satin finish makes these guitars a bit more affordable), I knew this guitar was guaranteed to sound great. And it really does sound great—its full, balanced tone and great projection actually remind me of the old 812. That's saying quite a lot for a guitar that comes in at $1499.
