As I've noted in other places, Taylor 12-string guitars are legendary for their playability, which is exceedingly valuable when you're trying to do a 2-hour set on one. The 500-series Taylor 12s occupy this really nice price point, giving you great balance and projection without the expense of jumping up to a 600 or 800 series guitar. I personally think that the 500s are Taylor's best bang for the buck 12-strings.
The Mahogany-topped version of this guitar adds a nice bit of chunky meatiness to the normal 556 build, and I find it particularly appealing. It's definitely worth a listen if you're in the market for a great 12.
