Taylor 814ce

As you've no doubt heard by now, Taylor redesigned their 800-series guitars for 2014, their 40th anniversary year. They've updated the looks and performance, while maintaining essentially identical dimensions and feel.

Under the hood, the 800s get new bracing, thinner top, new glue, and—perhaps most important for letting the guitar ring—thinner finish. Now, you might be tempted to say that simply building a lighter guitar is no feat of magic; in fact, most of the handcraftsmen we already work with, like Northwood or Avalon, already do exactly this. But doing this on the scale of Taylor's manufacturing (upwards 10,000 of these 800s a year) is nothing short of remarkable.

The result is a tone that is thicker, more responsive, and better balanced. I think it's bound to win you over.

Dream Guitar

This guitar is by far the best sounding, most well-rounded guitar I've every played. It has a nice even tone that works well for finger picking and strumming alike. It screams quality construction, and materials. My only gripe with it is that since it costs $3500, I am a bit paranoid about where I take it and messing it up, so I don't end up using it as much as I would if it were cheaper... But it is an amazing guitar!
