But the OM-40R comes in hundreds of dollars less than the OM-09, which makes it a real steal.

OM-40R, pry it from my cold dead hands

I’m happy with guitar as well as my service and communication with Shoreline. This guitar was also set up by their Luthier at no extra charge. These models come with medium strings, I had mine set up with New Mediums. Then I threw on some lights - the lights have no problem driving the top and make it really easy to play. This guitar can really be driven hard, but also responds to a lighter touch. I love the overtones of the rosewood. It’s mine and I ain’t giving it back.

Couldn't ask for more!

After spinning my wheels for weeks debating a guitar purchase with myself (not a bad use of time), I finally decided on the Larrivee OM-40R. Could have gone with Martin, Taylor, etc., but there is just something about those Larrivee's. This baby is beautiful to behold, and a pleasure to play. It has a terrific feeling neck for the fingerstyle I prefer, and the sound clearly projects every single melody note up and down the fretboard - what balance! With the phosphor bronze strings, it rings out, and with bronze/silk strings it punches out the bass tones. And that sustain - it lasts darned near forever. I really couldn't ask for more. And I've got to add, picking Shoreline Music may have been an even smarter decision - quality service from start to finish, and the confidence of an easy return, if necessary. I will be a lifelong customer.

A fantastic guitar

I was first tempted to say that the Larrivee OM-40R is a "great guitar for the money"...but really it's just a flat out GREAT GUITAR. Beautiful tonewoods, a fantastic neck, and immaculate construction...and a really nice open tone that excels both fingerstyle and flatpicked. I couldn't be more happy with this purchase.

Larrivée om40R

I ordered a custom neck, 1 7/8. I come from classical guitar and I’m playing finger style so that is comfortable for me. Sounds great and the workmanship is beautiful. This guitar is not a canon like my dad’s old d35, but has plenty of volume and balance. Much easier for me to play than the d35. Setup was right on for finger style and it can still handle strumming with a pick if you don’t get too rough with it. I have been playing it for two weeks now and am very pleased. I would definitely recommend the Larrivée OM 40R and service from Shoreline was great!

A real beauty!

Being a grad student sometimes means agonizing over every dollar you spend, but this is definitely a worthwhile and the best purchase I’ve ever made! I’ve always wanted a Larrivee and the OM-40R does not disappoint. This guitar is an absolute beauty - I could look at the wood grains on the rosewood all day! When it comes to the most important part, though, the sound from this guitar exceeds all my expectations. It’s is extremely balanced and the lows are warm and mellow, basically everything I want in a guitar. Last but not least, John made the whole ordering process so pleasant and personal that I felt even better about buying a Larrivee from Shoreline. Thank you, John, for an amazing guitar that I will treasure for life!
