This handpan has been the one I've dreamed of ever since I first asked Marshall if I could sell his instruments in my shop. It is a modern recreation of my original handpan that I bought from him years ago. The two main updates are 1) ember steel, and 2) years and years of growth as a craftsman and builder. It's all of the Daniels Made goodness poured into a new iteration of the instrument that changed my life.
While major scales don't always capture that exotic vibe that some typical handpan scales do, I really appreciate major scales for their versatility. There's a lot of music naturally bound up in a major pentatonic scale, and lots of recognizable riffs, everything from The Well-Tempered Clavier to Christmas songs to hymns to old standards. This is still my favorite handpan to write songs for, and as tempting as it is just to hang onto this one for myself, I will choose the right thing here: Someone is in for a real treat with this handpan. (I'm also strongly considering making this a Shoreline Music special, so if you miss out on this one, there's bound to be another)
