The ONE model is the original version of the Neotone handpan, and I think it still holds its own compared to the newer Mutant models. Yes, the Mutant version adds an extra tonefield in each of the original nine tonefields, and the Mutant also includes a nifty control panel so you can swap tunings on the fly.
But if you don't anticipate needing either of those features, then you can save yourself a bit and go for the ONE. Everything else about this model is the same: same wood options, same number of (non-Mutant) tunings, same number of samples, same tools in the app, same connectivity, same cool look.
You obviously can't go wrong with any model of Neotone, but there's a good reason the ONE is still alive and kicking in the Neotone product line: It's an extraordinary instrument at a great price.
