This was the very first Patera handpan I played, and it won me over instantly. The tuning is familiar, of course—D-Kurd may be the most popular one around—but the blossoming notes and sympathetic resonance were unexpected in a 13-note handpan at this price.
To add notes, some builders go with the "mutant" style of squeezing extra notes on the top, and that definitely has its advantages. But my first handpan had bottom notes, so playing those notes has become second nature at this point, and I think I've just grown accustomed to a roomier arrangement as you see on this model.
This is fun to play and it sounds great—definitely worth a look.
