Lakewood M-32

The M-32 listed here is a fantastic guitar, and probably the Lakewood that will appeal to the broadest cross-section of players. The European spruce makes this a responsive and dynamic instrument, and the slightly deeper lower bout gives it plenty of meat in the lows. I especially appreciate the small design touches, like the wider soundhole that gets a matching wood rosette (I wish more American builders did this), and the attractive contrasting backstrip.

An old Shoreline employee walked away with one of these years ago (after paying, of course), and it is still his go-to guitar for recording and leading worship. If you're looking for a versatile all-rounder, the M-32 is worth some serious consideration.

  • European Spruce top over Rosewood back and sides

Overall great versatile guitar

I purchased an M-32 from Shoreline Music in Sept., 2003. It has always been a versatile, playable guitar. In recent years the sound has opened up more, making the tone even better. More recently I installed a Baggs Lyric, also from Shoreline, which to my ears has proven to be a good fit for this guitar. It responds well to finger style playing, which I do the majority of the time; but also works well with flat picking and strumming, therefore a good all-around guitar. The one minor thing about this guitar which prevented me from giving it 5 stars, is the intonation of the B string. It seems to need frequent re-tuning, depending on what key in which it's being played. The rosewood back and sides, coupled with the AAA European Spruce top produces a nice, deep resonant tone that one would expect from rosewood. The overall craftsmanship of this guitar is excellent. I highly recommend it, particularly if you're wanting one good versatile guitar.
