Audioengine's approach to computer audio has always been that simple is better, and the N22 is no exception. It really doesn't get any cleaner than the black box with a single knob (this is essentially the same design as the D1 DAC, too). The tone out of this is terrific, and with multiple inputs for connection to a variety of gear, the N22 is a handsome upgrade to any small system using passive speakers. The N22 even doubles as a headphone preamp if you're so inclined. The preamp is designed to accompany Audioengine's P4 speakers, and the resulting rig is killer, offering fantastic tone at an affordable price.
