D'Addario 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Strings

D'Addario Strings manufactures strings for just about every instrument imaginable, and they've been doing it for over eight generations. Their strings are used on more stages by more professional players than any other, and their packaging is slick—D'Addario uses environmentally friendly string pouches, and intuitive colored ball ends for figuring out which string goes where when you're restringing your guitar. I've been playing guitar for 30 years, and after trying many, many strings on several different guitars, I often find myself coming back to D'Addario strings for their ability to hold tone, pitch, and playability.

80/20 Bronze, commonly referred to as brass, is the original acoustic string alloy selected by John D'Addario Sr. and John D'Angelico in the 1930s. 80/20 Bronze strings are popular for recording due to their crisp, bold, and projecting tone and appeal to many traditionalists for their historical significance.

Excellent strings for the right guitar

I like these strings a lot ----- on the right guitar. I find 80/20 strings to be a little more bright than PB versions, but they mellow out pretty quickly, perhaps after 5 hours of play time. I don't think they last as long as PB strings and I don't find them to be my preferred choice on Rosewood/Spruce guitars. However I do enjoy them on Mahogany- and Redwood-topped guitars where them seem to draw out some beautiful tones. I think these are well made strings and always have several sets on hand. As always, you can't beat the service provided by the folks at Shoreline. They are my preferred dealer.
