This handpan is in many ways the classic handpan: D Celtic minor, nitrided steel. It has a tone familiar, appealing, inviting. Nitrided steel tends to have a faster decay / and less sustain than a stainless steel handpan, which normally means these are great for music that is more focused on individual notes and rhythm.
With that said, I find that this instrument is nevertheless somewhat airy, in addition to being responsive and balanced. It's a great player at a great price.
