Ki Instruments C Aegean 9
-
While I don't typically count the Aegean scale among my favorites, it seems like every time I pick one up, I just keep playing and playing and playing. There's something very beguiling about this scale. It reminds me of the best parts of my Daniels Made major scale handpan, but with a, well, airier? more contemplative? sort of sound. While the Neotone of course offers an Aegean scale, this is the first Aegean scale I've ordered from any of my builders. I'll definitely be ordering more.
This instrument features two iterations of its C major root chord, starting with the ding. It also adds two instances of the 7th, which can make for some cool scales / arpeggios. But then it throws in this F# that really adds a fun bit of character—and, of course, it makes it a perfect match for its twin instrument, the E Witching Hour 9.
Note also the cool visual designs that Kim is throwing on her instruments. I'm a fan.
