As with all the Larrivee L-body guitars we sell, the L-03R boasts impeccable balance, and great, full tone. While the mahogany Larrivees tend to shine in their note fundamentals and brilliance, the rosewood models get a bit richer and meatier, with an extra dose of guts under a pick.
The real treat with the 03 models is the price. They don't get the gloss finish and trim elements of the 05 and 09 models (or the nicer woods), but Larrivee's 03 guitars are otherwise essentially identical to those more expensive models, which means you can get a great-sounding guitar for a lot less money than you'd expect. I recommend this highly.
