The H1essential is a great little portable mic. If you don't need the more robust feature set of Zoom's more expensive mics, this may be the only mic you'll ever need. I've actually done quite a bite of recording with these (before I upgraded to H5 and now H5 Studio), and the results were fantastic. I've also watched narrative video productions that used these exclusively as their mics, and they were (nearly) indistinguishable from higher-end gear.
As with all the Essential series mics—and the H5 Studio— the biggest selling point really is the 32-bit float recording. If you have any modern DAW or video editor (required to process these files), you'll never have to worry about setting levels or clipping again.
